I am an artist and aspiring children’s book author from Maine.

How could I not make art? Growing up surrounded by incredible nature and wonderful people. Even my drive to work passes scenes often displayed in calendars.

I have been selling my art for a few years, and each year I seem to take on a new project or style of art. I have illustrated sea creatures and native Maine plants, made polymer clay earrings, hand-bound journals, built a 16ft sculpture, designed advertising for local festivals, and printed my artwork for many to enjoy in their own homes. (See below for more about past projects.)

When reflecting on my art career and where I want to focus my efforts, I felt called to make artwork that is intentionally glorifying to God. If it is his will, he will bless it. So here I am ready to make some awesome art!

About Grace

About Delightfully Refined

After years of struggling to find a “style” or a specific type of art that’s right for me, I’ve come to the conclusion that it doesn’t matter!

I have always felt stuck between colorful, “just because” art vs. art that is much more detailed and well...refined. I decided it was time to find a middle ground, where I can make art however I’m led and not feel it needs to fit a specific aesthetic. With whatever materials or colors, whether it takes me 10 minutes or 10 hours.

Delightfully Refined is the middle ground that combines both of these styles.

This name especially feels fitting because of how God is consistently refining me as an artist as well as in every other piece of who I am. I would like to intentionally delight in that! Any abilities I have are gifts from Him, therefore are to be used for His glory. I look forward to seeing what’s in His plans for this new start.

Thanks for being here!

Clay Earrings

In 2022 I made polymer clay earrings, mostly to wear during holidays. This started as just wanting to make myself some fun earrings, but so many people asked to buy them that I kept making more. Throughout the year I sold over 200 pairs of earrings and am still enjoying them today!

Bound Journals

This past fall I hand-bound around 40 journals. Each cover was pieced together, all paper folded and holes punched, then finally I waxed the thread and sewed the books together. The time and details were so worth it because each journal felt like a little work of art!

Birthday Banner

I made a birthday banner in time to celebrate my son’s big day! This will be used for many years to come, throughout my family, just like the one my mom had when I was a kid. Each letter is hand stitched and all fabric is recycled from test swatches of material used on boats.

Art Education

I went to college for art education and had the opportunity to teach visual arts and art history for grades
Pre-K through Highschool. Creating lesson plans only grew my love of art, especially getting to adapt this to such a wide age range.

Printmaking

Printmaking is something that never gets old! I took a class in college (focusing on lino cutting and wood block prints), and have done some experimenting since. Although it is not something I do often, it’s an art form I definitely appreciate.

Greeting Cards

I started printing cards a few years ago and since then they’ve been a best seller. This year I even made Christmas cards! It’s such a joy to know my artwork takes part in people passing on messages to a loved ones! Check out my “Shop” page to see currently available cards and other art.

Harbor Park Sculpture

My grandfather and I created the Harbor Park Sculpture together in 2022. This took about 1.5 years to make and was definitely a once in a lifetime experience! I came across an ad searching for an artistic way to cover up some pipes located in a small park by the ocean. We submitted a drawn proposal of our idea and were commissioned to create this 16 foot sculpture!

There are 2 mirroring sides, fully made of wood, that include many sea creatures found here on the coast of Maine. Every creature was carved and pieced together like a puzzle. We sanded for hours and hours! Then we painted and assembled.

My grandfather loves carving and woodworking, he has built houses and barns and is still to this day carving figures (especially little Santa’s). He is the kind of grandfather that can fix anything! Growing up he brought me to the monthly Home Depot kid’s workshops (yes I still have the apron full of pins). So it was so special to have this time working with him again!
